The egg or the chciken? Err, I mean, the autocannon and the Light Amplitude.. whatever, the laser, alright? And by Autocannon i mean the massively rapidfiring thingies that eat through armour and weigh tons upon tons, not something silly.
Don't ask me WHY I need to know this, I just do..

Well, to kill a few catgirls, the autocannon is just a rapid fire high-caliber cannon not unlike we see today in the 21st century. The only difference is that it can fire a burst of about a dozen shells in a very short time and land most of them on the same part of the target. Lasers on the other hand are a radically new weapon system that in today's world can't even reach the efficiencies (25-70%) nor power levels (19-100 megawatts) seen in BT lasers. The natural conclusion is that the Autocannon was developed from 21st Century weapons and later technology advanced enough to make the lasers we see possible. Game-rules speaking, considering that the AC is classed (according to Combat Equipment) as Tech C and Lasers as Tech D, the AC would come first as mankind developed technology in ascending order... C, D, E, then finally F. Thus we can confirm our hypothesis that ACs are lower tech than Lasers and should have been developed first. Checking against Mercs Sup 2 however shows that the standard Lasers predate the AC/10 and AC/20, so these are exceptions to the above assumptions. No canon source (that I know of) explicitly states when the AC/2 and AC/5 nor the standard Lasers were invented. Now that all the catgirls in a 5-mile radius are dead... why do you want to know?

To Answer your 1st Question... The Egg Came 1st, cause Dinosaurs laid eggs long before Chickens roamed the Earth.

To Answer your 1st Question... The Egg Came 1st, cause Dinosaurs laid eggs long before Chickens roamed the Earth. ...and older reptiles laid eggs before the dinosaurs, and the earlies amniotes before them, and the amphibians before them, and fish before them...

well, the Mackie shows an AC10, PPC, and 2 med lsrs, so no real answer there. Anyone know what tanks are pre-Mackie era? "Tales of the Black Widow" had a Mackie with an Autocannon/5... (granted, at the time the Autocannon/5 was the only Autocannon in the game) Merc Sup II also places Pre-Mackie Tanks as using the SUV Rules with a Tech C and Barrier Rating 7 Cap (alternately designed as combat vehicles with a 20% nerf value). The Manticore is supposed to be a Pre-Mech Tank (Highlanders Scenario Pack)... however, the continuity is so ... loose... that it could be declared at a later date to be a SUV manticore that the CV was derived from.
