Itchy cows make good hamburgers?
Our local college has an agricultural department. Being in the High desert hasn't hampered the propensity of ranches here, so there are a lot of cows here and about. As I was saying the local college has a lot of agricultural land. They care for sheep, emu, horses, and cattle. Now in the fields where the cattle graze during the daylight hours there are grounded anchor cables for the power lines.
Because our weather has changed so rapidly this year the cows have had to grow their winter coats quickly. As is the case with most animals the winter coat begins to itch as it grows in. And these cows are no different. Quite often as I drive past the grazing land I see these cows scratching themselves on the various raised objects in the field. There are many water control sublets and of course they scratch themselves on the mobile sprinklers.
However, the other day, I saw the most hilarious thing. Several cows were using the steel cables that anchor the power lines to scratch themselves. There was a winter storm brewing, as is always the case in Northern Nevada, and it made me wonder. It made me wonder if there were a lightning strike there, would the cows be made into nice juicy hamburgers?
If they did, would they be sold at wholesale or gross? And who would bring the condiments?

And this, my friends, is why you should always carry ketchup with you at all times.
