So, has anyone tried the demo if this yet? My download of said thing just froze on 0.00kbps (happy happy joy joy...), but if I do get to try it, I might wreite up a few quick thoughts, unless someone else has something to say. I also wanna see how it runs, since it hits stores on Friday.

Just played the demo.
Pretty cool. VERY similar to 'ye olde Total Annihilation. In fact, gameplay is practically identical, just with some new bells and whistles (not that that's a BAD thing, mind you. TA was a great game). Even resources are handled the exact same way.
It looked spiffy on my out-of-date computer, though framerates dropped in combat. You REALLY need a bleeding-edge computer to take full advantage of this game. Oh, and a big monitor helps. I mean a BIG monitor. No, a Frikin' HUGE monitor is almost a necessity. The interface takes up a lot of space (almost half the screen), which was not a very nice thing on my "little" 17-inch monitor.
BUT the interface is handy. Popup-bars on the interface tell you everything you could possibly want to know about what you have selected at-a-glance (health, resource consumption, if a construction unit or factory, what its building and percentage complete).
ETA times are given for all orders, which can be handy. The waypoint and patrol system is very easy to use (If you want to change the location of the waypoints, select the unit(s), hold shift, and simply click-n-drag the waypoints to wherever you want them. No more re-doing patrol paths umpteen-million times trying to get it just right).
Zooming is smooth from near-treetop level all the way out to view the entire map at once. Only thing is, with my small monitor, it was difficult to try and find that optimal zoom level. I ended up playing most of the game zoomed all the way out, only diving down to issue specific orders. With the spiffy 3-D units and landscape, it was a shame the view is restricted to a north-facing isometric view. I'd like to be able to at least rotate the camera.

Okay, so I finally got to try it, and I'm still super-excited... although my computer didn't seem to run it too well (aaawww...), and eithe rmy bombers sucked and couldn't hit the buildings or the game got bugged, because either way I dropped about a gazillion bombs on the thing and didn't seem to do any actual damage.

Ahem. Apparantly, you CAN rotate the camera.
