The many enemies of the writers..

So, there's writer's block and stress and all of those.. really annoying things, especially in conjunction, but the really big problem, the hugest problem when writing for a website, IMO, is a rather simple one, that's really easy to blame on someone else too: Lack of teh intarwebs!

So you're having a stressful vening, or, at least a busy one, and all of a sudden the wireless dies. Oh well, it happens, click repair and.. "hey, you have a limited connection, 'cause, you know, we're not gonna give you an IP.. neener-neener-neener!"
Fine, we'll do the annoying thing, and unplug the router and replug it, since the thing lacks an on/off button.. yeah, that doesn't work anymore.. hmmm.. reboot the computer, worth a try, right? Well, that doesn't do it, I know from experience if it's not connected to the network when windows starts, it's gonna come up limited, unless you hit repair, so i do..

Ahh, the nostalgic feel of a Blue Screen of Death and an unknown error.. Of course, this has happened a few times before, too.. IRQL_EQUAL_OR_LESS... it's plug and play, it's not supposed to be able to do this stuff no matter how much i screw up..

So I finally give up, and decide the next morning I'll plug in the freaking thing with a CAT5-cable, which works, just like it did with my wonderful laptop (the one that's soon on a UPS truc to be sent back to me because it was broken...). See, my STATIONARY, which still uses a wireless because it used to work, is now having some veery interesting problems..

Moral of the story: D-Link sucks, I'll burn their office down, and don't tell me I don't work reasonably hard to get articles to this thing.

Oh yeah, and I'd call the bastards customer support, but it's a weekend, and they charge you for it anyway, so.. well, yeah..

Yeah I know all about having 'puter problems i still remeber working on my longest story when the computer I was usine crashed.....along with 12,000+ words. At the time I was sending sections of my stories to a friend to edit so we were able to recover parts of what was written but I still had to rewrite the missing parts then finish it (It ended up being over 22,000 woeds but that hurt...A LOT also lost about 2 dozen earlier works that had been on the hard drive... Fortunately I had posted those on a story site so I was able to recover them. I now use an old Mac for writing with because while it is limited in cabanility you can't kill one of those. So I'm less concerned about loosing the contnets there..though I still keep other copies around in other 'puters...just in case. I have several 'puters I use to ensure that if one crashes I have back -ups. of course that did not help a couple months ago when DTE dropped a power line across a phone line and knocked out phone service to the area for 2 1/2 days.

Well, i'm on a steady connection again, due to shelling out like $21 for a 10m UTP cable. And tomorrow's a monday=I get to verbally rip the head off people at D-link.
